Intro to Black and Indigenous Maternal Health Equity and Justice: Access, Alternative Medicines, and Advocacy

Last year Black Women’s Blueprint in partnership with co-organizers Amanda Coslor and Kristen Graser,  convened an inter-tribal and global gathering of anti-racist midwives, birth workers, healers, and funders yearning for:  1) a radical alliance and a desiloing of our dreams; 2) abolishing patriarchy and racism; 3) mapping cartographies of struggle and land stewardship; and 4) reifying body sovereignty.  This workshop will continue and expand the conversation to decolonize maternal health - The workshop will discuss how a return to land and a return to the roots of the earth—the primordial mother is critical to maternal healthcare. The workshop will increase participant's knowledge of the policy implications for land and birth justice and how Black Women's Blueprint is leading the charge in developing a model and strategy for turning the tide on social determinants of health.
