According to the Year of Return Campaign, https://www.yearofreturn.com/ The “Year of Return, Ghana 2019” has been a major landmark spiritual and birth-right journey inviting the Global African family, home and abroad, to mark 400 years of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in Jamestown, Virginia. The arrival of enslaved Africans marked a sordid and sad period when our kith and kin were forcefully taken away from Africa into years of deprivation, humiliation and torture. While August 2019 marked 400 years since enslaved Africans arrived in the United States, “The Year of Return, Ghana 2019” celebrates the cumulative resilience of all the victims of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade who were scattered and displaced throughout the world in North America, South America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.

On January 12-19, 2025, join us on a liberation and freedom journey to Ghana, Africa where we will spend eight days bearing witness to stunning African sunrises and sunsets. We will spend eight days engaging with the people, food, folklore, dance and vibrant art and culture of Ghana and the African continent.

This is a journey that continues to facilitate individual and group journeys and pilgrimages to Africa for the purpose of connection and reconnections, racial healing and ancestral celebrations. Racial healing is at the heart of this journey – and reconciliation, transformation and healing celebrations are our goals.

Outcomes:

  1. This journey will immerse people of African descent in restorative practices with the people, food, folklore, dance and vibrant art and culture of Africa that can begin to mend and create pathways to individual and community wholeness.
  2. The journey will bring people of African descent together to rekindle love between and among people of African descent, rekindle love and appreciation for their ancestral practices and ancestral lands, and begin to offer and share strategies to repair the damage caused by centuries of colonization, racism, struggle and triumph.
  3. This journey will facilitate deeper understanding, healing, trust and reconciliation between people of African descent and the cultural and spiritual practices that continue to sustain their survival all over the world, while building authentic relationships and bridging divides.
  4. Receive a special complimentary membership with a Black Women’s Blueprint member card that gives you VIP access to all of our retreats or events, like our annual production of Mother Tongue Monologues, and any future conferences!
